A New Birthday: Ending Samsara & Joining the Cause
Can we really end suffering in this lifetime? In this deeply personal post, I share how I reached spiritual liberation in 2023 through what some call New Age practices—but which, at their root, were aligned with Buddhist wisdom. Then, on 2/2/25, I officially joined SGI (Soka Gakkai International), a decision that felt like a soul-level confirmation. Why? Because their core truth resonated: we are all Buddhas, and we can awaken here and now. Even though I had already transcended samsara, joining SGI was about aligning with a community that is actively creating collective awakening. Curious about how astrology, ancient teachings, and modern sanghas intersect? This post is for you.

A New Birthday: Ending Samsara & Joining the Cause
In 2023, something shifted in me that cannot be undone.
It wasn’t loud or dramatic. It was deeply spiritual—an unfolding that had been building over lifetimes. I ascended that year, through what some may call “New Age” practices, but what I now see were always rooted in ancient wisdom—particularly Buddhism.
The language was different. The symbols, more modern. But the truth? Timeless.
I let go of suffering. I let go of the cycles. I stepped out of samsara.
And yet, something in me knew… this wasn’t just about me.
Fast-forward to February 2, 2025—a date that felt cosmically aligned from the moment it appeared.
Astrologically, this 2/2 portal carried powerful numerology and a sense of balance, a union of inner and outer truths. I didn’t plan it, but looking back, it truly became a new birthday.
That was the day I officially joined SGI (Soka Gakkai International)—a global Buddhist community committed to peace, dignity, and awakening. A movement built on the idea that we can become Buddhas here and now, in this lifetime. Not in some distant realm or abstract future—but in the very messiness of modern life.
While I had already transcended personal cycles of karma before joining, I felt the call to be part of something larger. A sangha. A community. A cause.
And let me be honest—I may not always resonate with the intensity of certain SGI rituals or expressions. But when I look deeper, I see it clearly: this intensity is gratitude. It is the joy and reverence for the ancestors of this practice—those who preserved and passed on this path of liberation.
In essence, SGI is right.
We are all Buddhas in potential. We can awaken here. We can be Buddhas now.
Joining SGI wasn’t a rejection of my unique path—it was an expansion of it. A way to align with others walking toward the same light, using their voices to spread compassion, wisdom, and hope.
So yes—2/2/25 became a new birthday for me.
Not because I needed a system to validate my awakening, but because I believe in this movement’s power to impact more lives. To awaken more Buddhas. To help end collective suffering.
In a world that feels increasingly disconnected, I chose connection.
In a time of division, I chose unity.
And in a life already transformed, I chose to serve a greater transformation.
We are all Buddhas.
May we remember this truth and rise together.
